1. Information We Receive
Information may be received when a visitor sends a message through the Contact page or uses a feature that asks for information. Normal technical information, such as browser type, device data, pages requested, approximate network location, and log data, may also be generated when the service is accessed.
2. How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the service, to respond to messages, and to diagnose technical problems. It may also be used to enforce the Terms of Use or comply with a valid legal process. It is not collected to create a government-record profile about a visitor.
3. Cookies and Similar Tools
Cookies, local storage, and comparable technologies may be used to keep ordinary site functions working, understand aggregate use, and support service providers. Browser settings can limit or remove cookies, though doing so may affect features supplied by another service.
4. Service Providers and Search Tools
Some functions, including sponsored search tools or linked official portals, are provided by separate organizations. Those organizations operate under their own privacy notices, terms, and data practices. Information entered into an outside tool is governed by the operator of that tool, not by this policy.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
Information is not sold as a contact list. It may be disclosed to providers that help operate the service, to protect the service or users, or when disclosure is required by law, court order, or another valid legal process. A successor that acquires the service may receive information as part of that transaction.
6. Record Privacy Boundaries
Pennsylvania public-record access is source-specific. The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law, Act 3 of 2008, 65 P.S. §§ 67.101-67.3104, includes exemptions and procedural limits, while court, vital, voter, and motor-vehicle material can have separate protections. Delaware County Residents Directory does not control those records or decide whether a custodian releases them.
Pennsylvania does not have a general public data-broker registry or statewide deletion right that removes a person from every public source. An error in an official record must be addressed with the originating custodian. A request to remove a third-party display does not change the underlying government record.
7. Safety and Confidentiality
Do not send unneeded identification documents, signatures, full dates of birth, SURE registration numbers, or protected addresses through a public message. Pennsylvania’s Address Confidentiality Program, 23 Pa.C.S. § 6701 et seq., permits eligible participants to use a substitute address for specified records. The program and the responsible custodian, rather than a public search, handle protected-address concerns.
8. Retention and Security
Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information, but no internet transmission or storage method is completely secure. Information is retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.
9. Policy Updates and Contact
This policy may change when the service, its providers, or applicable requirements change. The current version appears here. Questions about this policy may be sent through the Contact page.
